Leeds City of Languages: Celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity.
Led by the University of Leeds, the two-week Leeds City of Languages festival will take place from 9 to 22 November 2026 with a diverse programme of more than 100 events and activities designed to inspire language learning, encourage cultural exchange and bring together schools, universities and communities.
Schools across West Yorkshire will have the opportunity to participate in language taster sessions alongside a range of activities specifically designed for schools.
The wider festival programme will also include concerts, talks and exhibitions, with events open to everyone.
Celebrating the more than 170 languages spoken across Leeds, the festival highlights the importance of linguistic diversity and the role of languages in connecting people, communities and cultures.
